| Gratefulness as Spiritual Practice Of all the possible ways to express spirituality, the practice of gratefulness can be one of the most uplifting. It changes your perspective of the world.. When practicing gratefulness the world looks abundant and God's presence is everywhere. It does not deny the lack and hardship, but rather provides balance. I am constantly amazed by the way people see their own lives. Most of the focus is on what they do not have and what they are trying to bring into their lives. The many blessings that surround them go relatively unnoticed. When blessings are noticed, it is often with a "Yes, but..." attitude. Take a moment right now and think of ten things you are grateful for - any ten things, big or small. Did you notice a shift in your mood toward lightness? It did not erase the negative or unpleasant in your life, but it provided you with a little balance. The interesting thing is that the more you become aware of what you are grateful for, the more you will find that you have to be grateful for. You will not only see your life as more abundant, but you will actually draw more abundance into your life. By noticing it you give it energy and it, in turn, attracts more abundance. Then you have even more things to be grateful for. Now isn't that the kind of cycle you'd like to find yourself in?
